Groundbreaking ceremony marks start of construction of The Stack Youth & Family Center

The City of Hayward, County of Alameda, Hayward Area Recreation and Park District, and partner agencies held a groundbreaking on Feb. 8 to celebrate the start of the first phase of construction on the new the Stack Youth & Family Center. The Stack Center is the culmination of a decades-long dream to create a neighborhood anchor that will be a cultural center, service hub, and economic catalyst.

Josephine Ayankoya appointed Hayward’s new Equity and Inclusion Officer

Josephine Ayankoya, who led racial equity initiatives at the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) and the San Francisco Department of Public Health, Behavioral Health Services, has been appointed Equity and Inclusion Officer for the City of Hayward. She began work in her new role with the City on Jan. 16.

Entries being accepted for annual Earth Day Poster & Writing Contest until March 15

The City of Hayward is now accepting environmentally themed works of art from Kindergarten through Grade 12 students for its annual Earth Day Poster & Writing Contest. Interested participants can submit an original poster, poem, or essay about Earth Day for the chance to win up to $200 in gift cards.
