Lunar New Year Show

龍騰虎躍慶新年

Saturday, February 3, 11:30 a.m., Downtown Library

As the Lunar New Year approaches, Hayward Public Library extends a warm invitation to the entire community for a special performance. Thanks to the generous support from Friends of the Library, we are able to feature two cultural groups this year.

High school students from Hansamo, a Korean student-parent association, will be presenting Pangut, traditional Korean folk music that includes drumming, dancing, and singing with dozens of players all in constant motion. Pangut was registered as UNESCO Cultural Heritage in 2014. Hansamo is dedicated to bringing language classes to Bay Area public schools and promoting Korean culture and art.

Last year, Xiao Pei Chinese Dance delighted Hayward at events like "Express Yourself Day " and "Trunk or Treat." We are thrilled to announce their return! Xiao Pei Chinese Dance has been a vibrant presence at schools, libraries, and community festivals for over 15 years. Their performances celebrate inclusivity and diversity through the art of dance.

This is a FREE event, and ALL are invited. Bring your family and friends for a delightful time!

Traditional RED ENVELOPES will be handed out to children at the end of the show!
