The City of Hayward has formally opened its recruitment of a new City Manager and is inviting community input on attributes community members would like to see in the City’s next chief executive officer.

Under the Hayward City Charter, the City Manager is hired by and reports to the City’s seven-member City Council and is responsible for overall administration of Hayward’s municipal government including selection and oversight of chiefs and directors of all departments of Hayward City government.

The position has been vacant since May 3 following the departure of former City Manager Kelly McAdoo, who announced in February that she would be leaving after eight years in the role to become Chief Administrator for the City of Santa Barbara, Calif.

To assist with the search for a new City Manager, the City of Hayward has hired executive recruitment agency Bob Murray & Associates, which specializes in executive recruitments for public agencies and nonprofit organizations throughout California and nationally.

The application period opened July 18 and closes Aug. 22. To learn more about the recruitment and the position of Hayward City Manager and to provide input, go online here to the City of Hayward website.
