Help the City of Hayward improve our local business climate

The City of Hayward is seeking input about ways to make it easier for businesses to locate and thrive in Downtown Hayward and elsewhere in the city.

The initiative, called Business Friendly Hayward, aims to create a supportive environment for local businesses, attract new investment and strengthen the local economy. The objectives are:

  • Streamlining entitlement and permitting processes for desirable businesses across the City’s commercial and mixed-use zoning districts;

  • Activating vacant and underutilized properties and storefronts downtown;

  • Promoting Downtown and other commercial corridors as destinations for businesses and community members; and

  • Growing and retaining small- and medium-sized businesses.

Community members and local business owners and operators are invited to help by sharing input through an online survey. In addition, there will be opportunities to provide additional feedback during two upcoming public work sessions on the project at a July 29 meeting of the Hayward City Council Economic Development Committee and an Aug. 28 meeting of the Hayward Planning Commission.
