Starting on Tuesday, September 3, Storytimes Are Back!
This summer, try something new with your kids and teens: online author talks just for them! Each talk is age-specific and by one of their favorite and most talented authors. Register in advance for these great programs:
At the Downtown Library:
Tuesdays at 11:00 a.m.: Music and Movement with Ms. Martha. Sing and dance with us! All our storytimes help children develop early literacy skills through reading, singing, writing, talking, and playing.
Wednesdays at 11:00 a.m.: Chinese Storytime 中文 故事會 with Ms. Wenny in Mandarin Chinese! Recommended for kids under 6.
Thursdays at 11:30 a.m.: Bilingual Stories/Cuentos Bilingües con Sra. Martha. Acompáñenos para cuentos bilingües con rimas, canciones, y cuentos en Inglés y Español! Join us for bilingual storytime with rhymes, songs and stories in English and Spanish!
Saturdays at 11:00: Saturday Storytime with Ms. Kohella and a rotating cast of guest stars. Join us for 30 minutes of stories, songs, and movement activities!
At the Weekes Branch Library:
Fridays at 10:15 a.m.: Music and Movement with Ms. Kavita. A morning filled with song and dance and a sticker or two!
Mondays at 10:15 a.m., starting on September 16: Learn and Play Storytime with Ms. Kavita.
We'll sing, dance, shake and read. This storytime has about 15-20 minutes of circle time and 15-20 minutes of playtime with toys. This storytime is recommended for ages birth to 3 years.

Homework Support Center Opens September 10!
Monday-Thursday afternoons; see schedule for details
Welcome back to the HSC! Bring your kids, grades K-12, for support from trained volunteer tutors and college students. We work with students in small groups (5:1 ratio), directly on their homework assignments and projects. School supplies, computers, and free lunches are provided.

Quick Start Ukulele for Little Kids
September 14 & 28, 1:30 p.m., Downtown Library
Kids as young as 4 can successfully learn to play Ukulele. Join us for a mini class—only 15 minutes long—to learn how to hold, strum and play a song.
Bring your own ukulele. If you don't have one, you can check one out just like a book!
Parents are expected to stay with their child during this class. |

Arts & Crafts for Kids (Age 3+)

Kids will do a 30-minute craft activity practicing their fine motor skills by gluing, cutting, taping, scribbling, coloring, and painting. All tools and supplies are provided.

Teen Advisory Group Meeting
Wednesday, September 4, 4:30 p.m., Downtown Library
Join the Hayward Library's Teen Advisory Group (TAG) for its monthly meeting! TAG participants get to have a say in what the library offers for teens and gain leadership experience that looks great on college & job applications. Attending a TAG meeting can also be counted as community service.

Teen Poetry Workshop

Join us for a poetry workshop led by Hayward Poet Laureate Leticia Guzman! Participants will have the opportunity to work on their poetry and get feedback from peers. All levels of experience welcome.
Bilingual instruction can be provided; Spanish speakers are encouraged to attend. Registration is encouraged but not required. |

Laser Engrave a Custom Pencil

This year is the 5th Anniversary of the Downtown Library being built! The traditional 5th anniversary gift is a wooden item. Help us celebrate and drop by the Makerspace to Laser Engrave a FREE customized, personal, wooden pencil (while supplies last)!
