Person using a gleaning tool to remove an orange from a tree

Hayward Community Harvest is seeking dedicated individuals to become gleaning leads and volunteers. Forestr.org is introducing this brand-new gleaning program serving the greater Hayward area and focusing on reducing food waste, connecting with neighbors, and feeding the community. Gleaning is the practice of collecting leftover crops or produce from fields, homes, or orchards after the main harvest. It aims to reduce food waste by gathering the surplus food that would otherwise go unused.
