Get Free Access to Audible Titles Through the Palace Project

What is The Palace Project?  

It’s an app where you can access thousands of free eBooks AND eAudiobooks including Audible and exclusive titles! 


How can I download it?  

The Palace Project app is available in both the Apple App Store for iOS phones and tablets and the Google Play Store for Android phones and tablets. 


How do I use it?  

Once you download the Palace app, tap “Find Your Library” to find the Hayward Public Library to access their collection.  


You can browse available titles and borrow by clicking “Get”. You will then be prompted to sign in with your library barcode number and password/PIN.  


How do I return my checkout? 

Your checkout will automatically return on its due date! No need to worry about an overdue item and late fees!

Ukulele Class for Adults

Four-week session starting on

Learn to Play Ukulele at the Library! This 4 Class Course is designed for the beginner!  You'll learn all about the Ukulele and the basics you'll need to know to play songs.   

  

Bring Your Own Uke. If you don't have one, you can check one out just like a book!  Ask at the Circulation Desk. 

  

Registration is required.  When you register for the first class, you are registered for the entire course.

How To Read Knitting Charts

Sat, July 18, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Downtown Library  

 

We’re hosting a mini workshop on how to read a basic knitting chart! To illustrate the concepts, we will examine the chart for a simple heart pattern. Bring knitting needles and 25 yards of yarn if you want to follow along. 

  

We’ll also bring our current projects to work on, and maybe a recent Finished Object or two for show-and-tell. 

  

All ability levels welcome. No registration required, and you don’t need a library card to attend. Just drop in! And feel free to bring a friend.

Healing in Daily Life

Hands-On Fix-a-Flat Workshop

Join Bike East Bay for an interactive, hands-on workshop where we will review the basic process of fixing a flat and inner tube patching, as well as strategies to avoid flats. Bring your own flat tire or use one of our class demos! No prior experience is necessary to attend this class.

Spectrum Community Services: Apply for Help Paying Your Power Bill

Tuesday, July 14 • 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. • Downtown Library 

A representative from Spectrum Community Services will be on site to accept applications and answer questions about the Low Income Home Energy (LIHEAP) assistance program. LIHEAP helps qualified households with a one-time-per-program-year payment on their energy bill. 

Mobile Health Clinic

July 10 & July 24 • 10:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. • Downtown Library 

Free, friendly medical services for people without housing every 2nd and 4th Friday of the month. No appointment required. Just come to the van parked in front of the library on Mission Blvd. between the City Hall Garage and C Street. First come, first served. 

Seed Library Seed Sorting Party

Thursday, July 16 • 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. • Downtown Library 

Help fold and label packets, sort seed, and spend an hour with fellow gardeners! Last year the Seed Library distributed over 5,000 little packets of seeds to the public!
