The City of Hayward has opened its annual recruitment period for applicants to serve on City commissions and the Keep Hayward Clean and Green Task Force (KHCGTF)—with service on these City Council-appointed bodies now open to all residents.
In November 2020, Hayward voters expanded the opportunity to serve through passage of ballot Measure OO. Measure OO amended the City Charter to eliminate wording that had restricted commission and task force appointments to people registered or eligible to be registered to vote—a requirement that had the effect of making non-citizens ineligible.
The application period for appointment in 2023 to City commissions and the KHCGTF is now open until Aug. 4—with vacancies on the Community Services, Library, Personnel and Planning commissions, and on the Keep Hayward Clean and Green Task Force. Meetings of these bodies are currently held in person at Hayward City Hall, 777 B Street, Hayward.
For more information—including a list of all Council-appointed bodies, terms of current members, updated eligibility and service requirements, and an application—go to the appointed bodies webpage on the City of Hayward website, or contact the City Clerk’s Office at cityclerk@hayward-ca.gov or (510) 583-4400.
