Family Fun Art at Weekes: Suncatchers
Saturday, September 6, 2:00-3:30 p.m., Weekes Branch
We are excited to welcome Tara Rocker-Bates, a member of the Hayward Arts Council. In this art class, she will show you how to make suncatchers from cellophane paper to create a glass look, while using construction paper to create intricate frames. A brief discussion on the origin of suncatchers will be given at the beginning of the lesson. This will be looped into mindfulness, and how to use beauty and the things around us to find peace when struggling.

Self-Defense Class for Kids (Ages 7-11)

Led by Sensei Anthony Thomas, a dedicated martial artist with experience dating back to 1979, this class focuses on realistic self-defense tactics that teach practical skills to help kids stay safe. |

Children are born with an innate love of music and movement, which play pivotal roles in the development of young children. Early literacy, physical, motor, and social-emotional skills are enhanced when children engage in activities such as dancing, singing the alphabet song, reciting rhymes, and playing instruments. Preschool Stories for Ages 3-5

Welcome to Preschool Stories! Bring your preschool-age kids for fun pre-literacy and school readiness activities. After the 30-minute storytime there will be 15 minutes for crafts, coloring sheets, or manipulatives.
No registration required! Drop on in.
This storytime is for kids age 3-5 only. It's tailored for the interests and developmental needs and abilities of kids in that age range. Older and younger siblings who aren't disruptive may attend, but must sit with their caregivers. |

Drop by to play a board game or tabletop game! The Games Cart will be available at the Weekes Branch Library in the Teen Area every Thursday and includes games like Connect Four, Exploding Kittens, Machi Koro, Battleship, Taco vs. Burrito, Azul, and more.
Please note that this is a self-directed activity. The Games Cart will be available for teen use, but there will not be instruction. We encourage you to bring your friends and try out a new game! |
