The start of a traffic-signal upgrade project that is going to involve temporary traffic delays at five intersections on and adjacent to Jackson Street has been pushed back by one week until Monday, July 1.
The intersections involved are Jackson Street and Amador Street/Cypress Avenue, Jackson Street and Soto Road, Jackson Street and Grand Street, Grand Street and Winton Avenue, and Jackson Street and Meek and Silva avenues.
The project, now anticipated to run until Aug. 14, will entail installation of new video detection cameras and the updating of traffic control boxes that ultimately will improve traffic circulation and relieve congestion in the area. However, the work will require lane closures and temporary loss of vehicle detection, resulting in temporary delays. Community members are advised to plan accordingly.
