Greetings, 

Thank you for your participation and interest in the Russell City Reparative Justice Project (RCRJP)! Due to the high volume of public input and staff time needed to develop draft proposals, the timeline for Public Comment has been delayed. The City of Hayward is committed to understanding and accurately reflecting your valuable feedback in the proposals that are shared for Public Comment. We appreciate your patience as we work to finalize the draft proposals and launch the Public Comment surveys.  

Public Comment for the first four (4) proposals will launch during the week of August 12 – 16, 2024. As a reminder, these proposal topics include: 

• General Basic Income
  

• Fair Compensation
  

• Property Restoration
  

• Affordable Housing 

When Public Comment opens, the RCRJP contact list, as well as all attendees from the July 24 and July 31 town halls, will be notified via email. The Public Comment period will be expanded from 16 days to 20 days to ensure adequate time to share input. Additionally, the Public Comment periods for the remaining six (6) proposals will be specified in forthcoming town hall meetings.

• Town Hall #4 | August 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. | Business Grants, Economic Development Priority & Homebuyers Assistance 

• Town Hall #5 | September 25 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. | Heritage Preservation, Community Center & Community Programs
