Test drive an induction cooktop for free through East Bay Community Energy's Induction Cooktop Lending Program

Are you interested in trying out induction cooking? The City of Hayward has partnered with East Bay Community Energy (EBCE) and Acterra to expand their induction cooktop lending program with a new location to borrow kits from Hayward City Hall.

Bay Area Air Quality Management District adopts new rules, banning the sale of gas-powered furnaces and water heaters starting in 2027

On March 15th, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District (BAAQMD) overwhelmingly passed amendments to Rules 9-4 and 9-6, requiring that natural gas water heaters and furnaces, when replaced, be switched to zero-NOx alternatives like heat pumps beginning in 2027.

The City of Hayward is now recruiting for two Fellows to serve in the City's Environmental Services Division through the Sustainability Service Corps (SCC). Apply to be the Recycling Outreach Fellow or the Sustainability & Climate Action Fellow roles here.

Sign up for a Green House Call to receive a free energy and water efficiency kit

The City of Hayward is once again partnering with local nonprofit Rising Sun Center for Opportunity to help households reduce their carbon footprint and utility bills. Through Rising Sun's "Green House Call" program, Hayward residents can take this 15-minute survey to have a free energy and water efficiency kit delivered to their door.

The next free disposal day is happening on Saturday, June 10th, 2023 from 7 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Hayward residents can bring up to five cubic yards, the equivalent of one pick-up truck full of household items, including furniture, mattresses, and appliances, to the City of Hayward's transfer station, 3455 Enterprise Avenue, for free disposal!
