Map illustrating street closures during Trunk or Treat event.

The City of Hayward will close parts of Watkins Street and C Street to make room for this year’s Trunk or Treat festivities from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 25. During this time, AC Transit will reroute bus lines down Atherton Street.

Watkins Street will be closed between C and D streets, and C Street will be closed between Mission Boulevard and Watkins Street. Trunk or Treat will take place at Heritage Plaza, across the street from the Downtown Library, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and more than 20 cars with trunks full of candy and treats will park along Watkins Street and C Street for the event.

There will be free face painting, bubbles, crafts and activities for kids, free food, a rock-climbing wall and a chalk walk. Attendees can enjoy performances by groups like Hayward High Cheer, Winton Middle School Folklorico, Danza Mexica Cherryland and Generation Music and Arts.

Trunk or Treat is presented by Hayward Public Library in conjunction with Hayward Promise Neighborhoods’ Promise Fest. Hayward Promise Neighborhoods is a collaborative partnership led by Cal State East Bay focused on educational success from cradle-to-career in Hayward. The Promise Fest celebrates the partnership’s decade of service to the community and the expansion of services to the Downtown area.
